Important COVID-19 Update How we can help you

Today Karen Roy shared this great TED talk with me from Amy Cuddy.

Amy provides an amazing review on literature of “the power pose”  demonstrating that adopting a powerful physical pose (think hands on hips or raising hands over head in victory) for 2 minutes, in private (ideally in most cases) before an interaction (in your room before a talk, in the loo etc.) changes how you are perceived by others AND can adjust your physiology to increase testosterone (power, risk taking) and decrease cortisol (good indicator of managing stress response).

As she closes, she states we can use our bodies to change our minds, our minds to change our behaviour and our behaviour changes our outcomes. Love it!

As a leader what signals are you sending out with your body language … small or big?

A productivity technique we share with all our audiences around the world is when someone comes into your office or your cube… stand up! Standing up is powerful, engaging (and makes people wonder if you are coming or going) – this stance also increases their ability to get to the point quicker – a standing meeting is a quick meeting.

Use your body language to have more powerful and productive conversations … and meetings!

How can you use this information in your everyday communications? We’d love to hear your ideas here on our blog.
