What will you do with 75 days?
No, I am not talking about the 75-Hard fitness challenge (That’s nutso! If you have already completed it, mad respect for you, that’s a HUGE commitment of mental toughness, physical endurance, and commitment to being your best self — well done you!)
I’m talking about the last 75 days of 2023.
Yep, September has gracefully waltzed in, along with new weather (but this little Aussie-Floridian will STILL wear white after Labor Day!) and new plans, and with each calendar flip, ambitious plans for the coming year begin to crystallize. Sound familiar?
It’s that time of year when leaders don their superhuman capes and accelerate into high gear, aiming to make the grandest entrance into the new year with a dash of fabulousness! And if you are in sales, I bet you are starting to panic right now trying to chase and close all those outstanding proposals and deals to make your numbers this quarter. I see you.
Pause for a moment and reflect — have you done everything you set out to do? Have you conquered your milestones? Or do you still have a trail of uncharted miles ahead?
If you are running hard (but feeling out of breath already) I hear you and I am right there with you.
As a keynote speaker, fall (in the US) is my silly season. I named it that because it seems every client wants to have their last quarter team retreat, or annual conference, or strategy session, or all-hands meetings, and I am here for it! It keeps me on the road and serving clients I love in the coolest hotels and convention centers! Note I say silly for a reason — it’s NOT a “hustle.” It’s no secret I am not a fan of the word hustle. Can we please trade in that over-used-aggressive-exhausting word for something more sophisticated and real — how about “hard work”?
But what if we could be more strategic in how we invest the luxury of our time and attention this quarter? What if we truly finish the year feeling strong — mentally, physically, emotionally and financially?
And you guessed it, I am going to suggest adding a little luxury to feel even more confident!
Did you know Luxury and Confidence are Linked?
Seriously. Most leaders who participated in our Luxury Mindset research study — 75% are in leadership positions at work — shared when they buy luxuries it increases their confidence.
They shared their examples of luxury with us, and said that their professional development, travel, wardrobe, image, executive presence and presentation skills were all improved by adding luxury.
Having a luxury mindset allows you to live your best life at work, whether you’re in board meetings or conference calls, and that confidence is contagious — adding luxury can help you role model confidence for your team, and lead them to finish 2023 more powerfully.
Bringing a positive, confident leadership style in your workplace inspires others. Developing confidence is vital and it is an essential skill for executive presence, followed by a forward-thinking mindset and the ability to inspire others.
If you want to understand how luxury can help you feel more confident, check out this short (5 minute) video for some strategies I’ve pulled together. Although our research showed that many leaders may find it hard to make time for luxury, one thing we can all agree on is that YOU are worth it!
