ImpactivityTM: Throw a black-tie dinner party.. hmm is that productive?

By April 11, 2011No Comments

Day Five & Six 9-10th April 2011

My objective: Invest 30 days in each area of my life to accelerate my own impactivityTM in the world.

Based on Friday’s entry you might remember I said I would be off email and focus on the people I share my life with – ah it was awesome! My honey went away for business on Sunday night so I thought I would pop into my email, Facebook and Twitter to see what was going on… as suspected… I didn’t miss anything important and it was a great reminder, we really don’t have to be online all the time.

Today’s entry is the compilation of the weekend and while I didn’t really exercise and I definitely indulged in amazing food it was because on Saturday night we hosted our local gourmet club dinner. We have 5 couples that get together regularly and each couple hosts a dinner party. Our theme this time – black tie! It was so much fun to see people’s interpretation of how to dress – some came in suits, others in long dresses and other’s with a cheeky take on it – way too much fun. With an exquisite menu, lounge music playing, converting our lounge room to a dance floor and many champagne cocktails – it was the perfect way to spend time with people we love and create memories to last a lifetime.

If you have heard me speak, you might recall I share that productivity includes scheduling activity, scheduling recovery time and also scheduling reenergy time. While planning a dinner party like this requires crazy scheduling for 5 couples and lots of recovery needed afterwards… it definitely reenergizes you spending time laughing, enjoying and sharing stories with people you care for.

Sunday was definitely a recovery day of cleaning, reviewing all the crazy photos we took and recalling everyone’s excitement as we served each delicious dish.

How long is it since you got people together in your home, shared a meal, had a laugh and sat ‘fully present’ in the conversation? If you haven’t done it in a while, it might be a fun activity to schedule in your calendar.

We are so blessed to have amazing friends here in the US and they are our American family. We miss many people and things about Australia however we are constantly reminded that this is also home for us.

Thank you to our gourmet club for having impact on our lives!
