Day Nine & Ten 13-14th April 2011
My objective: Invest 30 days in each area of my life to accelerate my own impactivityTM in the world.
Do you ever wonder if you really make an impact on anyone?
Do you ever have weeks where you wonder if people notice?
As I write and reflect on this week I am astounded how one little Aussie can jam pack so much into five days. A friend reminded of this when a he called yesterday ‘worried’ and mentioned some of my friends were ‘concerned’ at how busy I was and wondered ‘how I did it all’. My answer was simple – ‘please don’t think I can do it all because I can’t!’ It was an honest answer however it was great to be reminded that friends keep an eye on you and notice when you are more tired than usual, quieter or just plain exhausted! Owning your own business, speaking and traveling, being on the road or working in a large corporation -can be lonely; what is really special is to know that someone is still keeping an eye on you. I was reminded of that during this week.
Yesterday I was honored to receive the Phebe Novakovick award from Women’s Resource Center. This award’s namesake is a magnificent trail blazer who is dedicated, caring and a lover of people. The award is given to a community leader who demonstrates strong volunteerism and a passion for helping other women – I was delighted to accept it. The day was made even more special by being surrounded by women I love and adore and those who have had an impact on me. One client even surprised me by buying a whole table and showing up – what a treat!
One of my biggest challenges this week was trying to honor the goals I had created for impactivityTM – trying to ‘do it all’. This week I was speaking and traveling for clients – making healthy food choices, having real conversations, drinking enough water, focusing on business development – wow – I didn’t achieve it all this week.
One thing I know for sure as I reflect on this long week, I am blessed to have friends who have become my American family and I have impact. Sometimes we need to remind someone they are important to us, remind someone you value them and remind someone they have impact – can I invite you to do that for someone today.
