Day Ten – Fifteen 17th-22nd April 2011
My objective: Invest 30 days in each area of my life to accelerate my own impactivityTM in the world.
So my original intent of blogging daily seems to have gone out the window! Opps, I guess I overcommitted there.
I also think the old way of managing time is out the window too!
All those time management courses were designed when work was simple; we had an inbox (physical space) and outbox. No email, no cell, no social media – technology has changed the pace at which we work.
If you have grown up reading books that tell you to make lists, prioritize them, then A,B,C them… I believe it doesn’t work anymore. They were current then and are outdated now.
The most productive people I know do less… not more! Over the four days I have been traveling and I have also had two full days in my home office – what a treat! During my two days in my office I have had a variety of great tele-coffees (where you and I make a coffee and chat on the phone) and video calls. I haven’t had to leave my office, no travel, no traffic, no time wasted! Brilliant. Sometimes we have to take a different perspective on time.
Choose what is important -not what keeps you busy.
I have written more business in the past two days by being home and not focusing on time management, than I have written in the past two months!
So if you want to be super-productive focus on the activities that get you the highest rate of return on your time investment, stop managing time, stop being busy and start being super-productive!
