Imagine you only had 15 minutes to share one idea that was worth spreading to the world… what would you share?
While preparing a program for one of my hospital clients I was researching great examples of how to create powerful short messages. This client is one of the major hospital systems in the US and I was speaking to their executive leadership team on how they could be more productive when sharing their story.
Hayley Foster, a fellow member of the National Speakers Association and the Short Talk Expert often coaches people to prepare them to give the talk of their lives at a TED or TEDx conference. She wrote a great little book called Don’t tank your TED talk: 12 Mistakes Professional Speakers Make – I would encourage everyone to read it (especially my fellow speakers). Her advice was honest and refreshing. She gave very specific examples, provided a great context and also practical ideas that anyone could implement when preparing a short talk. She encourages reader to start strong, avoid message overload, have great visuals practice and keep it fresh (all great lessons for anyone who presents).
If you want to be more productive in the way you deliver short presentations check out this resource and if you are ever invited to speak at a TED event… you may want to hire Hayley to help you with that.
PS. If you want more ideas on how to increase your productivity – check out other blogs here and several eBooks you can share with your team.
