Meetings are a vital aspect of business communications, however much time and energy is wasted in unproductive meetings. Create more impactful and productive meetings by applying these strategies:
That’s where you make a coffee and I make a coffee and we talk on the telephone… it only takes 15 minutes! This is the best type of meeting for status, business development and catch ups! I do tele-cocktails on a Friday – love those!
Limit the meeting to 15 minutes
You will be astounded by what can be achieved in 15 minutes.
Drink Water before the meeting
Ask the team to drink 16 oz of water at the start; the meeting is over when the first person had to go to the bathroom!
Never host a meeting without an agenda; even spontaneous meetings require a clear objectives and outcomes.
When someone enters your office or cube – stand up! Alternatively host a standing meeting – a standing meeting is a quick meeting!
Host a Video meeting instead of a teleconference
People are more engaged when they have to look you in the eye (instead of muting you while they check their email on a teleconference).
Choose two of these strategies to try at your next meeting – I promise you will look and feel more productive… and your team will thank you for saving them time!
