My fellow Aussie, Karen Jacobsen, can be heard in GPS systems around the USA giving directions and helping you ‘recalculate’. Known as the GPS girl, she launched a journal to assist people put themselves in the driver’s seat and roadmap their own future. You can check out her journal here.
I enjoyed reading this journal and as a productivity expert I was attracted to her section on lists, but not just any lists. Karen has fun lists, inspiration lists, lists of things to do when you wake up, lists for priorities, for breakdowns, for budgeting and so much more. This is a helpful resource if you want to be guided to set up your own lists.
Karen also had practical advice when life happens and maybe it’s not the direction you want to be going in. She advises if you are going to feel bad, go all the way – do it well. I smiled when she said to set the timer for an hour, pull up the covers, watch the saddest movie and cry it out, eat cookies and ice cream then brush yourself off, and start again! Now that’s handling disappointment very productively!
My most favorite part of the book is the inspiration list in the back (think of it as a suggested bucket list). It was fun to cross off all the things I had done (I only had 97 and there were so many more to choose from). It inspired me to pull out my bucket list when I was 26 and update it. What’s on your bucket list (or motivation list)?
If you want a resource that is easy to use, fun to read and will help you create your own road map, check out Karen’s journal.
