Have you ever had one of those days when you didn’t get enough sleep the night before; you are starving because you have been so busy you forgot to eat, you start to crave coffee or chocolate mid afternoon to help get you through and you start to get a bit grumpy as the day progresses?
Well if you said yes, here are some great energy management strategies from my personal trainer and owner of Fitness Together in Doylestown.
Thanks Ed Allen – great ideas for us all to implement:
- Commit to a good night’s sleep – The most important thing to do to ensure you keep your energy levels at their peak. Set a nightly goal of getting to bed at a reasonable time, and stick to it!
- Keep sugar to a minimum – Sugar, in any form, wreaks havoc on energy levels. Eat balanced meals and don’t drink soda and other sugary drinks.
- Surround yourself with good vibe – Hang out with high energy people, energy is 100% contagious. Life is much more invigorating spent with people who lift you up, not bring you down.
- Seek stress-relieving activity – Stress creates multiple problems for your body, consider yoga, regular exercise and a weekly massage. Stress is the “silent killer” so make this a priority!
- Prioritize fun – Put the fun back in your life by planning activity you truly enjoy everyday! Walk the lake at lunchtime or a bike ride after work can power you through even the longest of days.
Working out with Ed has definitely increased my own energy levels. Even on days when I don’t feel like working out, knowing that I will feel better at the end of the session is a great motivator.
