Scrolling through the photos from the speech made me feel worse. The camera doesn’t lie they say. Whoever ‘they’ are…. was right. Seeing unflattering photos can often be a motivator. Do you relate to that?
Later the same morning I listened to one of my fave podcasts On Air with Ella, she interviewed a great Aussie, Joe the Juicer (Joe Cross of Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead fame). If you haven’t watched his movie, do yourself a favor. I loved the original and then enjoyed the follow-up film Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead 2. I was inspired again. Time to make some changes.
Last year someone brilliant that I deeply admire, challenged me to run a marathon. It was an ah-mazing experience and one I will always treasure, however after it was all completed my body wasn’t running the miles or processing the food the way it had when I was training… seems it caught up with me.
I could make up reasons, excuses or pretend it wasn’t happening, and that would be insane. Do you ever have days you don’t feel ah-mazing? You see a photo, hear a comment or listen to the crazy talk in your head? In our busy, goal driven lives it’s easy to lose sight of what’s important and in our quest to get things done. I have realized that productivity is only a piece of the puzzle. We need to make choices: we always have a choice.
Choose ah-mazing today – we get choices in every moment, we make so many decisions constantly (it’s exhausting). We get 1,440 minutes in a day – how are you spending yours? Do you need to make any different choices today? What are you choosing to help you feel more ah-mazing?
Choose your network – surround yourself with people who believe in you and will assist you achieve your goals. Who do you need in your network?
Choose accountability – when you decide what’s important to achieve your goals, share it with someone, hold yourself accountable to your goals. Share your successes and also the times when you fail with someone you trust.
In the busyness of our everyday lives, we all want to do more, be more and achieve more. Today slow down for just a moment, determine what you can do in this moment to be more ah-mazing and feel more ah-mazing…and do that. And while you are at it, remind someone today you think they are ah-mazing.
