Get people to open your emailDo you get frustrated that people don’t respond to your email?

Do you wonder why you don’t hear from people?

Maybe it’s not you. Maybe they are busy… or maybe your emails are too long? Maybe your emails aren’t clear?

Think of every email as a gift – a beautifully wrapped present that you want someone to open.

If you want to get people to open your email use these tips to accelerate the effectiveness of your email.

Create a fantastic subject line

Your subject line is like the wrapping on a present, make it tempting for someone to want to open. Ask an intriguing question; make a funny statement… use your creativity to grab someone’s attention. Remember you are one of possibly 200 emails they are going to read that day – make your subject line stand out.

Use people’s names

Dale Carnegie wrote in his book How to Win Friends and Influence People ‘a person’s name is the sweetest sound’ – want to get someone’s attention? Use their name in the body of the email so they know what you want or need.

Write in bullet points

Don’t bore your reader with long emails full of sentences that look overwhelming. Short bullet points will make it easier for the receiver and more likely for them to respond.

Include a call to action

Explain what you need. Get to the point… and quickly.

People want to help you. Get to the point. Make it easy for them to respond and earn a reputation as someone who writes emails that get responses.
